You might not need a moat

“There are no moats anymore” might be irrelevant to you if you don’t plan to build a unicorn or a company that captures its whole target market or most of it. For companies with ~$1M ARR (maybe even more), you don’t need to have moats at all*. Or at least it is not the top problem to solve.

You need to solve one or a few painful problems well for a specific group of customers, differentiate enough for them to choose you, and find a repeatable channel through which you can reach enough of them at a cost you can afford.
