Social media addiction
I am addicted to social media.
But not because of doom scrolling. I can’t stand the algorithmic feed and much of the content it rewards.
You can see how broken our brains are these days and how hard it is for people to clearly formulate thoughts. And with agents who understand you with fuzzy prompts that will degrade even more.
Instead, I check out specific profiles of my web friends directly and consume books.
The problem is that my brain reward system has completely changed. I think in short form now and can’t write long-form essays. It impacts the quality of my thoughts and insights I discover.
The most joy and the deepest discoveries I made were when I was writing essays about topics I was curious about, without caring what others would think or if I would get any likes. I miss that!
